A New Integration Milestone?

Before yesterdays meltdown, I noticed something new. Southwest announced this promotion.

Halloween 2013 - 31% Off Promotion

Terms and Conditions

-This multi-use code (“Treat31”) is required to be used in the Promo Code box on southwest.com® or SWABIZ.com in order to receive 31-percent discount off roundtrip Wanna Get Away® Fares during the valid travel date listed below.
-Roundtrip travel required. Reservations can include up to eight people.
-Discount is valid on new reservations only, and purchase must be made starting Sep. 16, 2013 and prior to 11:59 pm, for the respective time zone of the originating city, on Sept. 17, 2013 for travel Oct. 31, 2013 only.
-Valid for Southwest Airlines® domestic and San Juan, Puerto Rico scheduled flights only.
-31-percent discount code is valid for the Wanna Get Away Fares only and is applied before taxes and fees.
-Some flights may be operated by AirTran® Airways.
-7-day or more advance reservation may be required.
-To obtain discount on existing reservations meeting all requirements of this discount offer, the reservation must be cancelled and a new reservation booked using the discount code (fare rules apply).
-Discount will apply only on the valid travel date. If one direction of the trip is outside the valid dates and one is within the valid travel, only the portion of travel falling within sale dates will be discounted.
-Changes made to the itinerary after purchase will eliminate qualification for this promotion. The discount is only valid with the provided Promotion Code and is not combinable with other Promotion Codes or fares available exclusively through the web tool DING!.
-Discount is not valid on reservations made using Rapid Rewards Points.
-Discount is not valid on Group Travel and Jackpot Deals® products.
-Air Fares for Southwest Vacations package deals have been discounted by 31% for eligible markets and dates. Discount Code is not needed to receive 31% off the air fare portion of the Southwest Vacations package deal.
The New Thing was the Airtran referred people to the Southwest site to take advantage of this promotions. As far as I remember in the past there had been separate similar promotions on both sites. The effect of that is that any Airtran flight not on Southwest's site was not on sale.

In addition Southwest had on their website this promotion.

Actually, I went to the Airtran site and they did offer some sale fares they had froma week ago. I bought tickets from ATL-HOU for 118 each way.But yeah, annoying way of marginalizing Airtran.

The promotion no longer shows on on Southwest but some fares still seem to be available. Not sure what is going on.

New Promotion on the Airtran Website today. It sends you to the Southwest Website but the same fares are available through Airtran. There is no link on the Airtran "Special Offers" page. No email from either Airtran or Southwest (yet). I got emails from both Airtran and Southwest.

Available only on southwest.com® or swabiz.com.
14-day advance purchase required.
Purchase from Sep. 20 through Sep. 30, 2013, 11:59 pm for the respective time zone of the originating city.
Travel through Feb. 12, 2014.
Blackout Dates Apply: Nov. 26 - 30; Dec. 1 - 3; Dec. 19 - 31, 2013; and Jan. 1 - 5, 2014
Travel valid every day except Fridays & Sundays.
Some flights operated by AirTran® Airways. Available on published, scheduled service only.
Fares valid on nonstop service only.
This looks like the new normal.

Southwest also has a new Atlanta promotion which is virtually identical to this one as far as I can tell.

I wonder if the delay related to the computer problems last week.
