24 hour upgrades

Hello,

I am flying Airtran on September 13th CMH-MDW-CUN and returning September 18th CUN-ATL-CMH. I have upgrade vouchers as well as credits and would like to upgrade. Is there a way to check seat availability online?

You can go to Airtran.com login to your A+ Rewards account and use the "Book A Reward Flight" tab to check availability and book your flights. Once you put in your cities and dates, that will tell you if rewards flights are available for the flights you want. If rewards are not available on the exact date you want it will show you dates before and after when rewards might be available. If Biz awards are available that will also show.

You can check general seat availability using the seat map "Chair Icon" in the regular reservation search.

Or you can call and ask. Are you planning a T-24 hour upgrade?

Something that many people miss is that the upgrade is not 24 hours in advance but the day before travel. You can upgrade at midnight the day before travel (2 days if you are Elite) and but not check in until T-24.

Getting Business Class Upgrades: Call us at 1-888-3-A-PLUS-8 (1-888-327-5878) to reserve your upgrade to Business Class anytime beginning midnight the day prior to departure. Four A+ Rewards credits are required to redeem for a one-way Business Class upgrade.

Although I don't think they answer the phones after 9 pm ET anymore. If you find differently pleae post.

I haven't tried recently.

I think you can also call the regular 1 800 AIRTRAN and get it done but it might require some escalation. I've had to do that on occasion to explain A2B or Elite rules to the person on the phone. I just called and they still answer that number at 11:42 ET
