Air Tran cuts Atlanta jobs
|
Atlanta's second-biggest air carrier is reportedly cutting almost 300 jobs. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that AirTran Airways will eliminate 283 positions at its principal hub, as its parent company Southwest Airlines takes over operations. AirTran is being gradually dismantled and has already ended service in many cities. Neither Southwest nor the governor's office is commenting on the report. AirTran once operated 211 daily flights from Hartsfield-Jackson before its sale to Southwest in 2011. |

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/n...ocal-jobs.html I suspect the original article was incorrect and was replaced as the text above is no longer there. It now clarifies these are reservation jobs outside of ATL which are being consolidated at ATL. Sounds like the agents are being offered positions in the ATL center. |

Probably corporate doublespeak.
Current employment at the three AirTran centers: Carrollton – 126 Savannah – 159 Atlanta – 339 Total – 624 The new consolidated ATL call center will have "more than 300 desks." The math doesn't seem to favor the 283 being offered transfers. |
