Timberline Steak at DEN no longer priority pass 16OCT19

https://www.prioritypass.com/en/loun...steaks--grille
Please note effective 16OCT19, this location will no longer be part of the program.

Not sure if this was reported earlier but I just noticed this.

As a UA traveler (who most often flies thru ORD but sometimes IAH/DEN), it's yet another PP option disappearing.

So that leaves DEN with ZERO Priority Pass locations...this kind of sucks as Timberline was fairly decent (diner level steak). With DEN being a major transfer hub and the AMEX lounge delayed at least until Q1 2021 this leaves many travelers in the cold.

Well American Express Platinum customers happened to loose access to all "non-lounge airport experiences" like Timberline effective early last month, so no change for us.

Among the very first PP restaurants to join.

I'd wager the #9 rule was the issue. No evidence, just a guess.

According to this post, the restaurant itself is closing next month on Oct. 15th so that's why it's leaving the program.

Airport PIO confirms Timberline "closing in the near future."

Good catch.

I wonder if Timberline could pay enough to keep quality staff. Seems every fast food joint hoists a "We're Hiring" banner these days. DIA is an uncommonly long commute for workers, who must submit to screenings and periodic background checks.

I'll be passing thru on 12Oct. Hope they won't be reducing the menu in anticipation of the closure.

not closing?

Per staff at the timberline this AM, they denied that it both was closing and/or leaving PP. I believe that it's not closing - was very knowledgeable and believable. Leaving PP, perhaps he would not be aware, so who knows about that. We will see...

This seems to be one of a dozen restaurants operated by the same company at the airport.

Mission Yogurt, Inc. and its subsidiary companies own and operate food and beverage concepts primarily in high-traffic airports, including Denver, San Diego and Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airports.
It could well be that this location will be closed to be re-branded if the "concept" isn't as profitable as others.

Not good news as this was the only PP installation at DEN.

Some interesting information in this newspaper article from June 2018:

Last September, Timberline partnered with travel rewards company Priority Pass to give certain credit cardholders a $28 meal credit to use multiple times – the first DIA restaurant to do so. Nine months later, Timberline said the program is to thank for a significant boost in traffic: In May, rewards members accounted for over $400,000 in sales.

....[General Manager] Steinberg said the restaurant recorded about 6,000 Priority Pass check-ins during the program’s first 30 days last year. That number had tripled since then, with nearly 18,000 check-ins for May, or 38 percent of Timberline’s total business.

But the increase in sales doesn’t necessarily mean increased profit. The rewards program reimburses Timberline just $23 of the $28 credit; the remainder goes back to Priority Pass and its parent company, The Collinson Group.

“So from the front end, it’s bringing in a lot of traffic,” Steinberg said. “But if you’re sending out $5 per person back to that company, is it truly profitable?”

...

When the program started, Steinberg estimated only 25 percent of Priority Pass members tipped their servers appropriately. But the restaurant raised that number to at least 75 percent today through coaching and printed notices.

In February I would've flown into DEN and driven to Steamboat Springs and was hoping to grab a meal on arrival using PP. Hopefully this will only be re-branded and some sort of PP option will be available.
