Using shower at lounge

Hello,

Many years of using first/business class lounges, not once I have used shower in the lounge. Sweaty season is coming up and I think I want to try taking shower freshen up before getting on the plane. I'm just not sure exactly how to use it. Do I just walk into empty shower room or do I need to go the frontdesk first? They do give you everything you need: soap, shampoo, towel, etc? Do they always clean shower room after each usage? (I surely hope they do)

Btw, my upcoming next trip, I'll be using Finnair lounge in Schengen area at Helsinki.

Thanks

Most lounges will make you go to the front desk to request a shower. You just hand them your boarding pass and in exchange they'll give you a key to designated shower room.

Every shower room I've been to includes fresh towels, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, etc.

And yes, all shower rooms are cleaned after every use. It would be really nasty if they didn't ... :(

You need someone with specific knowledge of the lounge you'll be using.

For the one time I used the EK lounge at GLA, towel kits were in the shower area, shaving and toothbrush kits were available from reception, and I would not even think of cleaning it after use personally as there are staff available.

EK in DXB have shower attendants available to answer any queries.

The process depends entirely on the lounge, but just ask at the front desk on arrival if you are unsure.
All I have used provide fresh towels and usually some toiletries and should be cleaned after each use.

Finnair lounge shower might be special. The non-schengen lounge has a Finnish Sauna. Quite fun though a bit overrated (just a sauna. Be careful with the water your throw over the coals I burn my had a bit)

Not sure if the Schengen side has it

Finnair non-Schengen male private showers are not currently working. Just a communal one in front of the sauna room.

I've used a lot of lounge showers. I've never seen one that didn't provide amenities, that didn't provide towels, or that didn't clean up between users.

Lounges vary in their procedures for showers: hand you a key, escort you to the shower you should use, etc. Procedures can also change depending on how crowded the lounge is, both in terms of shower usage and in terms of other demands on staff time. Ask at the desk when you check in. Even if you don't want to shower right away, if there's a line, it can help to get your name down right away.

Depends on the lounge.

Bring sandals

I usually buy a cheap pair for a buck at daiso and throw away right afterward

@:-)^^ Shower shoes are your friend in communal showers!, no matter if they're cleaned after each use or not.

Check with the front desk on arrival not just for their local procedure, but to see if there's a sign up sheet too. Some locations are in demand with a wait list.

Are there typically lockers or whatever for your carry on luggage, valuables, etc? I would assume so, but what size would they be?

Finnair schengen lounge has one shower. Simple, basic, has all the amenities inside (including towel).

Actually, the AY schengen lounge has two shower suites.
