Al Dhabi Lounge at AUH Terminal 1
Apologies, if this is old news, but given the complex lounge situation for AB Gold Card holders at AUH, I thought I should share this anyway:
I flew NBO-AUH-TXL-ARN yesterday on EY/AB in coach yesterday and had the usual long layover at AUH. I was under the impression that the only lounge, which I would be able to use as a AB Gold card holder would be the Al Reem lounge in terminal 1, which is prone to overcrowding. Yesterday, I was told that I could also use the Al Dhabi lounge, which is just a few steps to the left of the Al Reem lounge and which has a lot more space (and otherwise very similar facilities). Access is still limited to three hours though, which was strictly enforced (and the stamp your boarding pass to prevent you from going to the other lounge). Still, a pleasant discovery that there is a less crowded lounge available at AUH. |
To complicate that further, the instruction (read: rejection) I was given was I could only access Al Dhabi if I was on an AB ticket and my departing flight was on AB metal (i.e. TXL-AUH-SYD meant I only had access to Al Reem, but SYD-AUH-TXL meant I could access Al Dhabi)

As AB Gold Card holder you are eligible to go to the EY Business Class lounge in AUH. This was announced approx. 1 month ago and is valid for all EY Partners.
Silver gets you into Al Reem. |

Could you please show a link to this? I thought Silver+Gold were both only Al Reem

Silver gets you into Al Reem. Clicking through to both https://topbonus.airberlin.com/web/tb/lounge and https://www.airberlin.com/en/site/la......_lounge.php, it's showing Gold members can't access the business lounge. So..who knows :) I wouldn't be surprised if the sites weren't updated. We'll have to wait for some folks to try and report back, I suppose. |
The link you're referring to is probably https://www.airberlin.com/en/site/la...=4&type=etihad, as they've merged benefits across programs.
There are still too many asterisks referring to AUH to make it feel like it's a mistake (or that they haven't updated other pages on the site). I'm guessing it's still only Al Reem for gold and silvers. |
Yes, I refer to the linked page.
In German Forums people report that they were able to access the EY Business Class Lounge with Topbonus Gold status, but I admit that it is confusing, because for its own goldies, EY states that access is only possible to Al Reem. |
Would a BA Silver (OW Sapphire) get into any of the lounges with an HG economy booking - AUH-VIE?

Poor luck on HG from AUH-VIE. They really are the pits! |

I would very much doubt it. There is no OW lounge offering there. The OW website should show you what you can do, but as noted, it's very complicated (read as: an absolute mess!).
Poor luck on HG from AUH-VIE. They really are the pits! This is from the flyNIKI website, and it clearly indicates that I should have lounge access. Hopefully that will be the case. |
