I don't believe you need to fly 60 flights/segments or earn 40K qualifying miles to get a Gold status match. However, you'd have to fly that much to requalify for that status next year. This can be on a combination of AB, EY and OW airlines. Others here can tell you if there's a minimum number of AB metal flights required for status...some OW carriers require at least four flights on their metal to maintain status each year.

Thank you. Yes, I have already received my match and I was just wondering about how to re-qualify. If the requisite was 60 AB flights it would have been really difficult, but 60 OW in general may as well be possible ! Even though, in all fairness, I am tempted to use Qatar Privilege Club. Seems way easier to qualify on there !

The way to re-qualify with 60 OW flights seems a bit counter-intuitive to me. The segment-based qualification is mostly for intra-european (or shall I say domestic german) flyers who donīt achieve gold status through the 50.000 miles threshold. As soon as you fly long-haul you can achieve status with a reasonable effort through the 50.000 miles threshold with much less than 60 OW flights. Should you fly >60x short distances on OW airlines (but not AB), I donīt see the sense to collect miles at a bad ratio with AB, when you can achieve status usually much easier with your preferred airline anyway.

My general rule is always: (1) Collect miles with the airline which you regularly use and (2) use their partners for filling up the gap to the status threshold. Depending on how much you fly: (3) is the status secured, choose the next alliance and start with (1) again. Except in very special circumstances, I also see limited sense in having status with 2 airlines from the same alliance, better choose one and go for the top status.
