Newbie questions on upgrades
Haven't flow AB for ages.
Can I upgrade a flight (TLV-TXL-SFO), AB purchased, in anyway using Avios or AA miles? Obviously the longhaul sector is the one of interest I saw the "make us an offer deal" for upgrades: 1. How do I do that for one passenger only on a shared PNR? 2. When do you get notified on success? 3. Strategies for making it happen (i.e. bidding correctly....) thanks! |
Bumping this. Now pretty sure AA/Avios not useful and just links to best way to use the make an offer system.
also separate the PNR.... |
If you are not succesful with the bid for upgrades and you do have AB miles, definitely try again at the airport ticket desk before the flight. There is quite a chance that an upgrade might be available on the day of flight with some addtl. miles for the sameday upgrade, but still for an OK amount of miles IMO.

I searched but did not find much on the bidding scenarios (on more active FT forums such a scheme would be strongly covered) 1. When you bid when do you get an answer (right away? Day before flight?) 2. If you bid the low end do you basically never win and the high end almost always win? Chances of a mid range bid to be successful? 3. Any other tips for successful bidding? 4. Can you upgrade day of flight not with miles? (Hello how much would an upgrade cost me?) |
