MacBook Pro adapter in Air New Zealand Business
Does anyone know if the new Apple Megasafe adapter for MacBook Pro's work on Air New Zealand Business Premier Seat?
|
If it consumes >90W, you probably won't be able to run + charge your laptop at the same time. I had no problem charging my Thinkpad (~75W), but it was problematic running + charging (~90W).
Either run with the battery out, or just charge it while you're eating/sleeping/whatevering. The outlet is just a regular 110V AC outlet that accepts most plugs (not UK though). To be honest I don't recall seeing many people actually using the power outlets on any flights, though.... |
Thanks. I don't really want to charge the battery. I think I will have to take your advice and run it without the battery and a regular US plug, as my understanding is that the UK one doesn't work.

The Magsafe airline adapter works great, but doesn't charge the battery.

From www.airnz.co.nz
PC Power Operation PC Ports are available in Business class on A320 aircraft, and in Business Premier and Pacific Premium Economy on B777 and B747 aircraft. The in-seat outlet unit provides 11OV at 60Hz. The outlet plug accepts most common connector plugs including: * 3-pin New Zealand or Australian plugs * 2-pin European plugs * 2-pin or 3-pin USA plugs The outlet plug does not accept 3-pin British plugs. For use of devices with this type of plug, an adapter is required. Adapters are not available onboard Air New Zealand services. |
It works!
Hello,
I was flying BP last august SIN-AKL on a B777 and my 17" MacBook Pro worked great. I just plugged the normal power adapter at the beginning of the flight (so the battery didn't need to be charged). It was quite a surprise since on many airlines the power plug just stops working with the MBP. Gio- |
