The ANZ lounge is landside in LAX. This means you have to line up through security after you have gone through Customs and Immigration. Transit time in LAX is two hours (?) so it is up to you if you think you have time to go through security etc.
In LAX ANZ has a transit room, not lounge but better than the terminal.

Each time I've gone to the lounge at LAX on NZ1/2 I've spent almost the entire transit queueing - big queues at immigration, another queue for customs, then outside and up the escalator, another queue to get to the security queue, major security queue. By the time I've reached the lounge boarding had already started (or started shortly thereafter).

The airside holding pen is no fun but mostly is better than the only alternative.

Related issue: I am arriving in LAX on Air NZ, and have domestic onward ticket to LAS on UA. I know I'll have to go through security and re-check baggage etc, but can I use the Air NZ lounge instead of UA RCC?

I am *G bmi and Koru Club.

Seeing as the Air NZ lounge is in termnal 2 but UA operates out of terminals 6 and 7, that wouldn't be a very sensible thing to do even if you could get permission to do so.

They are on opposite sides of the U. A walk around the head of the U (turn right when exitting terminal from NZ) takes 10-15 minutes (or similar wait for the *A bus). You could also walk through the carparks in the middle.

Expect to spend up to 2 hours getting from arriving gate at T2 over to airside T6/7, maybe more if you need to check in with UA.

It will be a big let down flying Ted to LAS after NZ from AKL/LHR. The UA RCC is pathetic also.

[QUOTE=Kiwi Flyer]Each time I've gone to the lounge at LAX on NZ1/2 I've spent almost the entire transit queueing............

While I am not as seasoned as KiwiFlyer I have transited LAX approx. 20 times in the last 3 years and have only had a long delay once. Even then I had time to get to the lounge have a shower (etc), clear emails and have a snack before being called to board. Personal preference is go for it.....

Officially the answer is no. According to the NZ website http://www.airnz.co.nz/travelinfo/pl...ing_via_la.htm, as you will be travelling in Y you are expected to remain in the transit facility

However, when I did this in August (on an award J ticket) I didn't notice anyone checking boarding passes before letting passengers through to CBP after which you can then make your way to the NZ international lounge

On my flight back on NZ1, the flight in was a little delayed and I was made to go through secondary screening (this usually happens to me.. a long story). By the time I cleared this CBP staff decided I didn't have enough time to go out and back in again so I was escorted back to the transit facility!

There is a also a boarding pass check before security and they may not let you through if you're departing from another terminal (has happened to me at other US airports, though I haven't tried at LAX).

Cheers, Zac

You've transitted LAX a lot more than me (I try to avoid it as much as possible, going via asia whenever I get the chance). I must be unlucky then.
