Major detour AKL airport -> city next 8 weekends
Major roadworks on Mangere Bridge northbound lanes (heading away from airport to city), for the next 8 weekends. This will add 15 minutes and about $20-25 to taxi fares.

There were traffic problems going to the airport yesterday as well as away.
NZ Herald
A lot of unhappy travellers. This was poorly advertised and lack of signage meant many got stuck between the off-ramps and the roadworks.

I was caught in that jam after arriving on NZ82
Fortunately I had a rental car and was not in the taxi. The rental car company did recommend taking that exit just prior to the Mangere bridge, which unfortunately countless of other cars were also trying to get to that same exit converging from 4 lanes into 1!

I'm guessing its probably quicker turning right onto southwestern and then cutting across to southern than working way through the burbs.

Due to major roadworks on motorway extension, major delays are being reported peak hour around Hillsborough Road. Note the Airbus will be partly affected by this. Most of the time taxis to/from CBD use Queenstown Rd and thus unaffected.
