Changing domestic flight connection
Hey,
I've seen it mentioned on here that the domestic connections to international flights are booked as the equivalent of flexichange flights - i.e. can change to earlier/later flights. Assuming so, is this something that the call centre can change on the day, or have to ask at the airport? Partner booked TT through corporate portal which only allowed selection of flights with shortest connection, and wondering if it can be changed to an earlier flight. |

I've asked via Whatsapp successfully and they mentioned something that usually this is chargable but they will waive the fee for this instance.

They're changeable on the day at the airport. I don't know if you'll have any luck calling on the day and changing without paying (at minimum) a service fee.
They are not actually promoted or advertised as flexi fares - but making them flexi allows check-in staff to easily change these flights in case of a disrupt. |
Cheers all for the input,
I imagine calling / WhatsApp in advance and hoping for a fee waiver wouldn't work due to it being a third party corporate booking. Will give the call centre a try on the day and report back, else will ask again at the airport. |
Just following up here, called at a few minutes past midnight on the day of and they changed the domestic connection for free without asking any questions :)

When I book my international flights, they usuallly come with at least two domestic connection choices now. Usually 0600 or 0650 on a morning flight, and a 2hr or 4hr after landing of the homecoming international leg.
I usually pick 3+hrs, after standing at MPI for over 2hrs in Oct 2022, and having to go to a desk to TP to the next available regional flight, never do a transfer with less than 3hrs coming home. That also saves the hassle of carrying 3x 23kg bags onto the transfer bus or go for a walk with the luggage trolley rushing to the bag drop before it closes at -30. When I book full BP fare, then it says I have flexibility, and the domestic leg is usually full Y fare, so no cost to change on the day. If I book early, then it is restricted, and they say you aren't meant to change to an earlier one at check in. But I say I would now free up a seat at PM Peak. More flexibility for the next GE wanting to change their flight :) |
