SP logic not quite understood

Hi All

I have book a domestic multi stop trip next year 5 legs all on the same day 3 flights are jets 2 flights on Regional.
AKL-WLG-CHC-DUD-WLG-AKL booking Class X,P,P,G,G both P class bookings show potential earnings of SP at 0.
is this just down to the class of ticket booked? Curios to know before I ask AIr NZ

DUD AKL is via WLG

Thanks

Craig

This is likely because NZ earning is normally based on O&D rather than per sector. Even on separate tickets NZ will adjust your earning to match the O&D rates.

AKL-CHC Seat Only X class earns 6 SP which is what they’re quoting you.

Nothing wrong here. Multiple flights in the same direction on the same multistop ticket on the same day are simply converted to a journey.

Your journey is from Auckland to Dunedin.

Would it not make more sense (from a APD/SP) perspective to simply book multiple tickets? Of course, you will lose some of the protection if you misconnect.

No. Even if multiple tickets NZ will adjust your earnings to O&D post-travel.

Under the AP T&C:

We will calculate the Airpoints Dollars and Status Points you earn on Air NZ Operated Flights for domestic and international Sectors using the Origin to Destination One-Way Journey and the Booking Class of travel for the Sector in which you have travelled the greatest distance (we will apply this earning rate to all Sectors of your Journey that are "Eligible Flights").

If you hold two or more Tickets for different Sectors of your Journey, we will still apply the same Origin to Destination One-Way Journey and earning rate calculations to all Sectors of your Journey (as set out above that are "Eligible Flights").
