Elite partner lounge access Star Alliance

Mrs Kiwiflyer is off to Europe to visit our daughter. She is flyinging Singapore to London and Asiana back to Honolulu where we will catch up to fly home.

My question is where is the detail on lounge access. I assumed she wouldn't get any lounges once she departed Auckland but ANZ website is really vague saying it depends. Is there a clear statement anywhere?

Apologies if this is covered in an earlier thread. Searched but couldn't find anything.

The Air NZ website details this for every lounge. You just need to look up the lounge you're after.

https://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/inte...ge-information

Basically she's not going to get access to any lounges other than AKL and HNL (assuming this is on 086 NZ ticket stock). Elite partner doesn't offer any *A /*G benefits.

Where does Elite Partner actually rank for Recognition/Elite$AP upgrades on AirNZ flights?
Above Golds? Above Silvers? Above Koru?
(Assume no actual Airpoints status for the EP).

I think they only consider the actual airpoints status (so for my partner I think considered as a Jade gifted in an RU when traveling solo).

I wonder why they don't give out full *G to partners -- they give away so many status points through credit cards these days, it doesn't seem like that much of an additional burden and would make things much easier to understand.

Delta for example have an option for Diamonds to gift Gold to someone

My anecdotal experience is the EP is ranked as Elite, just like a giftee when it comes to upgrades.
My tribe (EP & A bunch of Jades) have scored well, including peak times with full flights

i recall a few years ago a Christmas gift was *G to a nominee. It created a flow on effect with lots of pax then becoming Gold Elite (as it was then).

EP ranked in their "own status" when not travelling with an elite.. this is what I have been told by multiple agents over the years.
i.e.if R class is available, their upgrades won't clear automatically like an elite.

I have also heard this. This would have a Jade EP member ranking below Koru members - which seems meh..

Pity AirNZ is so opaque on such matters. A bit like withholding R class information. No way externally to see how many are ever released…

(I still don't understand why no access or even vouchers at Hong Kong)

Believe they used to contract TG lounge which is now closed. I guess EP is not really a priority in terms of a new contract with anyone.

yes I've used that lounge - its both EP and Koru members they are short changing here. In TPE last week the allocated lounge for EP/Koru is also closed, but we were able to use another EVA lounge. Fail to see why they can't so something in HKG. And if lounge not available - surely a voucher is easy enough to arrange (albeit a crappy option).

I posted about this when I flew back from HKG in May. The couple behind me in the boarding queue were seriously annoyed that they had no lounge access during their transit.

I can totally understand why Air NZ weren't offering lounge access up until early May because every *A airline (as well as other airlines and Priority Pass members) were all using the Plaza Premium which was so busy most of the time that it sounded like an absolute shambles. They opened the Plaza Premium First a week or so before I arrived primarily for SQ and other *A carriers and when I flew to BKK on TG they gave me a voucher for entry. It was pretty busy when I was there and there was a queue for entry to the regular Plaza Premium next door. It seems pretty poor that they're not offering access to this lounge.

I read last month that the SQ Silverkris lounge was reopening at some point in August after a major refurbishment. TG indicated their lounge was going to be closed permanently and I haven't seen any mention about the reopening of the UA lounge.

A friend who is *EP was granted lounge access at HKG recently, despite not having *K nor *G.
