Checked bags to destination?
 

I'm going to be on ANZ from ORD-AKL-SYD in a couple weeks. I have the NZ ETA already for transit but I noticed it says that if I need to collect baggage I need to get the full visitor ETA. I am assuming that my bag will be checked through to SYD and I won't need to touch it until I get to Sydney - is that right? I know the US is weird and makes you collect your bag when you land, then re-check to your destination, which is why I'm asking.

If you are on a single ticket yes it should be checked through.

Auckland has international transit don't have to cross the border, as your next flight is an international flight.
