I have a friend who informed me that her silver status was extended for an extra year due to Covid. I have not received any notifications to the same effect for my koruna membership. will this happen.... it should.... I have so many flights that are no longer happening

My experience yesterday - Auckland domestic was moderately busy 7am to 8am when I was there in the morning (and anyone with guests being redirected to regional), Christchurch was pleasantly sparsely populated (25% capacity max I would guess), while Christchurch regional was EMPTY, not a single, person.

The government imposed restriction on 100 person max gathering indoors should impact lounge levels - if they ever get that full.....

I assume they must comply?

Does the 100 person limit apply to aircraft?

I personally have wondered the same question. I'm in a very similar situation myself with a membership that I can now no longer use due to the vast majority of flights being cancelled. Is it really outrageous to ask that this be extended when they have already extended they same courtesy to those who get status via. flying?

No different to the “will they extend my status” ones. They all about me, me as well.
But we earned our status, yes and people paid for Koru.

I think a fair solution to this would be for Air NZ to offer to cancel Koru Memberships on request and refund on a pro-rated basis similar to how insurance companies do it for car insurance.

One thing to note is the Koru Lounges still haven't closed - them closing would certainly make for a better case for refunds.

On a personal note, I'm sick of being lynched by some members of the forum everytime the commercial policies of Air NZ are questioned - they might have a $900M hole, but I'd rather take that than explain my now worthless $700 membership to the significant other, it's not pocket change for a lot of us.

Just got a 6 month Koru extension without asking. Added to this full refund on all flights booked, no fees, even on saver fares. Well done AirNZ.
