I'm confused? What am I defending?

For the Nth time it's also not a govt owned airline but if you're happy to keep believing it is then good on you!

So few J seats?

I flew out AKL-SFO in the middle of August and every single one of the 44 J seats was sold. That same night they had another 88 J seats to LAX (NZ6 & NZ2), 26 to YVR, 26 to IAH, 27 to ORD, and 18 to EZE. In one night that's 229 J seats to the Americas alone - hardly a small number of J seats. This didn't include their J seats to SIN, HKG, and SHA.

The airport was extremely busy and I have it on good authority that every single J seat to the Americas was sold that night...

well, the govt does own 52% of the common shares, so "govt owned, but not run" is not an unreasonable statement.

Oh dear for the Nth time you need to learn it is owned by the govt! If you learn how to use google you can get more updated information. ( however the govt of New Zealand used to own 76%)
Why does it bother you the airline is owned by the govt?

As a significant shareholder in the airline myself I have no issues with the Government stake. You seem to be the one with the issue.

It doesn't - I suspect that's either a typo or something that's been messed up with DST changes.

NZ4 times now much more closely parallel the arrival times for AA's flight, and indeed the daily QF flights from SYD/MEL/BNE to LAX.

As well as UAL's flights MEL & SYD to LAX
Virgin Australia's SYD & BNE flights to LAX
(The VA MEL flight might arrive a bit later)
Delta's SYD-LAX
all arriving at LAX between 6 and & 7am
