1 August announcement

Any speculation that the desperately needed new business seat will be unveiled on 1 August? Seem to recall seeing a teaser that something’s being announced that day.

Safety video plus something else. Good thinking on a new seat. The schematic of the 777-3 in one of the vides seemed to prominently show business rather than the other classes.

The new BP seat is not arriving until the new Dreamliners arrive in 2022.

My understanding is the current BP refurb seat will arrive with the last - 9 Dreamliner which off the top of head arrives in Oct. Rest of the fleet will then be refurbished over the next year or so.

Air NZ are remaining very tight lipped about what changes there actually are to the refurb seat.

All I’m expecting is the seats to get repainted/recovered in an colour pate that is forgiving with the lack of onboard cleaning does the these days.

On the soft product side it would be good to see an re-fresh of the meal service design, remember all the promises that the 77W meal service was going to be, only to have rolled back to the traditional.

It would be good to see more express / comfort options added to the menu. Example of an full 77W on SYD the meal service can take 90minutes to complete, almost over half the flight on some days.

Took this screenshot from Instagram:

Edit: I can't post a pic of the "blueprints" but it does prominently displays BP in a 1-2-1 configuration in the same style so probably nothing new?

This video?

The plan is labelled 777-300ER which is already 1-2-1

Only J

The interesting thing about the blueprint is that there is no economy or PE; only J.

MY bet is announcing route to NY. Lots of apples among the messaging.

why would they show a 777-300 ER. I’m not sure it has the range for a direct Auckland to NY.

Most punters travelling would have no idea of the type/range.

An re-configured 77W low density one probably could do it, there are an couple 77W routes out there around the 16hr mark.

Also why use the All Blacks for a NY announcement? The US have no idea who they are. Seems like a bad advertising campaign if over half the potential market for the route don't know the sport let alone the sports ball players involved.
