Also planning to fly with 6 others AKL-CHC-AKL later this year, wanted to use my APD. So would like to know the limit. It's not 'gifting' as I'll be on the flights. Qatar, Skywards etc allow this unlimited if I'm on the booking, but couldn't see AirNZ's policy. I have searched :)
