have you worked out why you were targeted ?
example ...
1: you flew a lot and did not fly much over the last year
2: you always flew a lot
3: you just join airports
4:you only flew a little all the time

Thinking back we couldn't figure out a clear correlational

I got that triple SP offer as well but couldn’t do anything with it. About now would be good.

It was the time when the alliance with VA ended, and VA offered a similar deal and so I believe it was targeted at trans-tasman flyers.

As someone who flys TT a bit I didn’t get it - I think it relied upon a number of variables from posts I’ve seen. What surprises me is that VA hasn’t offered a status match to attempt to increase TT custom. (QF did years ago but not recently AFAIK).

From memory the only thing people had in common was that TT travel was one of their more common trips. Plenty of people like me that fly TT multiple times a year didn't get it. It seemed kind of randomly aimed at reasonably frequent TT flyers.

Do you believe it was targeted at the person's choice of TT airline ?
I was choosing Airnz but crediting to Virgin (2 sectors a month) but no bonus SP
do you think it was targeted to Virgin travellers ?

I've only flown Virgin once during the agreement but around 15 TT trips a year on Air NZ, so I feel I was indeed targeted for that reason.

No, unsure - hard to know without knowing who else received it and what they fly. I typically fly trans tasman 2-3 times a year, lots of domestic, and ~1-2 long haul. Just enough to scrape into Elite.

I hadn’t flown NZ TT for 4 years.
1 Virgin r/t to Bali (via Aus obviously) 2 yrs previous to the offer. Only other intl had been *A to Europe (purchased via LH) with the only NZ leg being HND-AKL on the way back.
Had done loads of NZ domestic & regional however.
I’m sure we’d all love to know who & why, more so love them to do it again.

Yeah I am sure one day in the distant future, chances are they'll run something like that again, but I wouldn't count on it anytime soon.

Maintaining Elite and extra SP

it must be hard for AIRNZ to work out who to offer extra SP to.
Some people would substitute paid flights with airpoints flights or reduce their premium flights if the earn double or triple points were offered so the objective of gaining more sales mag not always be successful
Not certain whether others do it but any year I have brought forward surplus SP from an earlier year I substitute my cash flights with airpoints (with more airpoints upgrade) so I only just meet the AIRNZ requirements!

Getting closer...
May not have to do the SP run as a couple of projects require my presence...all client reimbursed travel, and The WPac Airpoints SP’s about to land :-)
