Is the new AKL Regional lounge almost complete?

They said construction completes about mid-year, which is about time. Hope it's available to open during the July holidays

I was last up there 10 days ago and the frame is barely up. I wouldn't imagine there was a hope in the world of it being ready in a month.

Has any NZ Lounge project run to time yet? All of the recent ones I can think of have been delayed.

I've received a customer update today with an estimated completion date of Q4 2019 for Auckland Regional Lounge.

It certainly cant come soon enough. I very rarely travel regional out of AKL but I was flying to Napier last week Thursday afternoon (around 4pm) and the temp lounge was awful. I had to share a table with another pax and when I had to take a call I just went outside to the equally awful pen/ waiting area.
AKL is really an awful airport for domestic passengers.

Many turned away during busy times as the temp lounge is smaller than before.

I’m in the regional lounge now. The entrance is via the big white exit door now. It has effectively been chipped in half. Lots of banging and hammering going I. Behind the screens.
It’s 11.00 on a Friday morning and there are a few seats but i can see lots of disappointment later.
It’s always jam tomorrow with Air NZ.

Good news is the WLG regional extension has opened. Plenty of space and nobody in there because they don't read the sign to know about it!

Great news and great news it's still a good hideaway.

Don't think the AirNZ site has been updated yet. Still showing:
400m^2 and 136 seats

Nope. The old office space next to the lounge. There is a new door to walk through where you go to the kitchen.

In the Akl regional lounge now (after being denied entry until other passengers left) its a shambles really.
Minimal seating everyone standing. Grabbed a coffee and left to relax in the terminal.
cant help but feel the planning for these projects is poor

Planning at airports is hard as there isn't just longue sized spaces sitting around to move into.

Auckland should have had new domestic terminal by now.

Sure AirNZ should have already built the second international longue by now, should have been done when expanded from two to four gates. But that said airport not thinking ahead to have another level where longues could go to make it just a fit out.
