NZ partner lounge at PVG?

Hi, we're flying CDG-PVG-AKL-WLG tonight and have several hours in Shanghai to kill at the airport. Is the air China lounge listed on nz website any good? And does anyone know if it has facilities for kids? We'll have our 18mo with us. He's done many long hauls between NZ and NA, but never this long an itinerary...... Yikes.

It’s average. I don’t recall anything particular for small children in the lounge, but IIRC there is a kid zone in the terminal with toys, etc.

There is a TV area in the lounge on the second floor with cartoon channels.

You can also reserve shower suites and nap rooms.

Good thing is the lounge won’t be too crowded before NZ departure time.

Good luck with the trip!

Oh and we don't need to be flying J to get in right? (despite it being called a business lounge)

do you book the nap room with the receptionist at the top of the escalator?
where is the nap room ?
would you be able to use it for a hour or 2?

Nap room is for J customers only. *A Gold have lounge access, but not for nap rooms. Showers are good but get in quick. Food very...mixed. But it's not a bad lounge. Be sure to have your VPN if you use google or facebook or anything that is behind the Great FireWall™,

Who are you flying CDG-PVG with? Is it on the list of approved NZ connection partners? Otherwise you will have to go through Chinese immigration, collect your luggage, and recheck it prior to the NZ flight, which will leave you with very little time.

We're on AF but it was NZ ticketed all the way thru. They didn't check our bags through to NZ though so I think we'll need to get them anyway.

You should read carefully the thread in the China forum about PVG and the transit without visa. I'm assuming you're traveling on western passports so you should be eligible, but make sure you know what to do when you get to PVG.

It's already a cluster ....... Surprised that NZ even books with AF transfers here, definitely never doing it again unless I absolutely have to!

I have done it a couple of times with the approved transfer partners (LH/LX) and it's a massive pain like that. I have no yearning to try the full experience

Enjoy your trip and good luck with the little one!

Transit at Shanghai Airport

Airnz gave me this "blue transit form" instead of the normal gold one as I was transiting onto ANA (booked by airnz)
When you come out you go to the furthest counter on the left.
The queue on the 2 times I transited were pretty short (like only 2 persons ahead of me) with 2 counters.
SO all in all very fast and very easy to transit.
The staff spoke perfect English and processed the form in minutes both times
Its the quickest and easiest I have ever exited a airport ! (Both times)

AF gave us the gold forms without asking our connecting flights, then we were directed to the wrong lane by ground staff (I don't speak mandarin so maybe they misunderstood) before finally getting to the transfer area 20 min later. But only one desk working very slowly so we waited another 40 min there with a screaming baby..... Fun!
