Elite Partner vs Koru

I’m currently Koru and have the option of taking up a generous offer of Elite Partner.

Trying to understand if there are many differences between the two. Lounge, check in, baggage benefits seem to be identical. There is an old thread that suggests that upgrades may be cleared as Elite, so that could be a bonus.

I take it APD confirmed upgrades might be a step too far?

Elite Partner isn't a typical status level. You don't get any upgrades nor can you lodge any.

Gifted upgrades clear at the level the gifting Elite, unless the not they are not travelling - in which case they clear at at the base level of the Partner. From memory when I was in the same boat.

Just to be clear...Their is no material benefit to being EP when it comes to upgrades.
Elites can gift upgrades, recipient will have the upgrade processed at Elite level if the Elite is travelling with them, otherwise at their own level.

As an EP you are not given RU's.

But they already have Koru club which can’t be put on hold so that money would go to waste.

sure - but in general, this is the biggest difference between the two.

If your already Koru, there’s no extra benefit apart from international flights maybe offering your premium headset. Ask the Elite if they have any banked elite years or likely to be elite when your koru membership is due next to take up Elite partner then instead of paying for lounge. In the mean time, maybe someone else will benefit from Elite Partner for the next year.
