If his aim was to take on Fly Buys, he succeeded. But as a FFP or anything related to flying, he has done nothing but destroyed value. During his 6 years as the loyalty head, there was only patchwork done here and there to a very questionable earn/burn model which he inherited.

He trebled AP members. When you increase the base that much, the top tier numbers would undoubtedly increase at least proportionately. An increase not kept up to pace by lounge space.
TBF Mark was not doing anything different to what many airlines are doing, selling APD to credit card companies.
The complex poor earn/burn is another matter.

You say that... But all I see are people complaining, no one seems to feel sympathetic to their Air NZ hostage takers 😉
Unless you are in the rare group of people like me that can take advantage of the APD upgrades, it's one saving grace.

There are a number of good aspects to the program, like kiwiff says, if you have elite status. But not very much really for most people if they really sat down and did the numbers. I guess when you have a semi monopoly you don't have to try as hard as say the Loyalty manager for a US or Asian airline.
