Y Seats: armrests

I have searched seat guru and NZ website but I cannot find any information about the armrests in Y class. Do they fold up?
Thank you

Yes and no.

Can't answer that without knowing some basics such the aircraft type and seat location.

777-300ER NZ 005 LAX-AUK

I have just paid extra for little better seats in Y class. The diagram on the NZ website shows row 47 toward the front of Y, while the diagram on seat guru shows this as the worst seat on the plane--the very last row next to the toilets. Which is it?

Given the flight details supplied and the row 47 discrepancy identified it sounds like you are travelling on the dry-leased 777-300ER from EVA Air.

The NZ website - since you were looking at the Air NZ 77W on seat guru, not the Eva Air one which you are presumably flying.

It's also worth noting NZ5/NZ6 is not the Eva aircraft every day. It is flying NZ5/6 at times during this period.
