Is the pending flight Auckland to Chicago the longest?

Would this flight be the longest sector out of all commercial passenger flights ?

No. Not even even the longest 789 flight.

There are planned longer & current longer.

It is NZ's longest, but QR flies AKL-DOH which is the longest route in the world.

I hope this route is successful. If so, NZ may try AKL-EWR/JFK and AKL-YYZ.

NZ have already indicated New York (and it would be EWR they'd use since it's the UA hub) is a focus for their future, no doubt with their 777-200ER replacement (either the A350 family or 777x) which will arrive from late 2022

I'm very happy that they're starting ORD service (already booked on it twice in next few months) and would be even more stoked if they start service to NYC!
