SYD-AKL 22 September - No Seats

Does anyone know whats up with NZ on SYD on Saturday the 22nd of September? They don't see to be selling any seats in Y, J or PE on this date, and it has been like this for a couple of days now.

Surely they are not completely sold-out 14 days out? They are only offering the VA flight.

Could be an Trent Issue - nothing on there service updates.

The timetable has NZ102,104,110 all are apparently meant to be operating that day.

Had a look on EF and there are no results to any of the normal flight numbers. Trent issue may be a possibility but is doesn't explain why A320's can fly.

The a320s will be locked for sales, as if they are having to reaccommodate passengers they want to get all the current pax on a flight the same day before they start selling new seats.

What I don't get is why wouldn't they offer other non-direct options then? shows how limited the online booking system on NZ's website is.

Surely if say an key route such as SYD-AKL is sold out, it should then go to offering options via its current VA codeshare (soon to be QF) - e.g. SYD-MEL-AKL or SYD-BNE-AKL there is currently still seats on MEL-AKL // BNE-AKL for early evening departure on NZ.

Seems to be pretty bad revenue management not to offer any alternatives, when there is clearly is options via MEL/BNE. In the end NZ lost an return Tasman fare and went with LA/QF in J.

Because NZ doesn't have the interline or codeshare to sell the flight? They don't have paperwork to sell those flights.

NZ has interline agreements with VA & QF - and is allowed to sell Australian domestic flights (as part of the SAM - Single Aviation Market), they also have code share on VA between SYD-MEL. Its defiantly ticket-able, just NZ has chosen not publish them to there own website.

Example:
Code:
SYD//MEL NZ7641 (Operated by VA)
MEL//AKL NZ726
SYD NZ X/MEL NZ AKL 374.01QWRKUF NUC 374.01 END ROE 1.350208 XT 60.00AU 7.41QR 1.81WG 21.00WY 14.50F1 16.30KK

Doesn't mean the have inventory on all flights which they can sell. The other airlines may place married segment rules as well.
