NZ6 now NZ3 23/4/2018

Any ideas on this. Just got advice of flight leaving early and now renamed.

Cheers

Will no doubt be due to the TRENT engine issues affecting airlines globally.

Are you sure NZ6 is replaced with NZ3? NZs numbering convention doesn't normally swap even/odd around like that. NZ3/4 are the flight numbers for additional LAX flights (and were used when LAX was 3x daily) but I'd expect 6 to be replaced with 4 and 5 replaced with 3.

The issue will be related to the 789 issue and aircraft swaps that need to occur.

Looking at bookings. The Return i.e. 5 is 3 and is leaving at 10:50 and getting into AKL 1835+1.

So stopping the plane sitting in LA all day

NZ6 is now 15:50 with arrival at 09:00

Confirmed. NZ5 is, for several days next week, operating as NZ3 (dep LAX 1050, arr AKL 1835+1). Great having that daytime flight -- wish it were year-round.

NZ6 arrival is 0900 not 1900 I think? Probably moving to that flight given Trent problems on AKL-IAH :/

The Trent issues aren't affecting IAH flights as they're operated by the two new 787's which aren't fitted by the problematic engines.

Right but the retimed flights are wreaking havoc on connections in the US (would have required a 24 hour layover in Houston ... no thanks!)

Putting 772 to IAH allows for 789s to be deployed elsewhere. Given that amount of fleet reshuffling that is going IAH flights are affected by the Trent issues. Look even 773 flights with NZ3/6 are being affect by the Trent issues.

Agreed. Whilst you lose a day in the US you also only have to stay up for a few hours before going to bed. Much much better for jet lag.

I mentioned this to someone who works at NZ and he said staff will have to work much harder than on the overnight version. More awake passengers. Tough.

Is there a suggestion that these will be rolling changes over the next few weeks? I’ve got a couple of these flights to USA in just over 3 weeks and it would be good to have a heads up.

I would guess they have released what they need. They would formulate a plan for the all the engines. I would assume they can do all they need to in the current change in schedule. My understanding is there is more inspections and they don't need to wait on parts, so RR's production capacity isn't an issue like the last 787 outage.

This service is renumbered to NZ3

This is the alert I received at 11.48 this morning . . . . it may have very well changed.

I'm also affected by this - and now doubting I'll get the RU I applied for. I applied to 'stack' my 2 RU on this flight AKL - LAX, but following the flight time change, I tried to make a dummy booking only to find now that business class is 'not available on this flight'. Does that mean I won't get the RU to business as they've sold all the seats?
