Have an upcoming flight to Chicago via IAH on NZ28 mid-next week.
Been occasionally checking the app for any changes since this whole... fiasco started. Sure enough, flight got pushed back by ~3hrs, meaning the onward domestic connection needed to be changed as well, and the app now says "please contact us as there's a schedule change".

No e-mail/calls/TXT when that happened, as sbiddle mentioned above, as the flight's a week away they probably aren't sending out notifications actively to manage call volumes.

Called them ANZAC day morning around 10am, got through right away with no wait times (maybe because it was ANZAC day).

Agent was more than helpful (and competent) to go through all the options I have, including the possibly of routing via the now earlier NZ6 departure via LAX, however stress I would lose my confirmed PE E-APD upgrade.

Flights via LAX/SFO are chokka next week it seems, so stuck with the later NZ28 which would get me into ORD ~3hrs later than original.

The NBR is reporting that a Hi Fly A340 is going to be used to cover the AKL-HNL route. Hopefully it will stick around until July. The A340 config for us (2 pax) would be much better than on a 772.

I suspect HNL is being chosen in part because the A340 will be able to operate without ETOPS restrictions.

If it's one of the A340's used last time it'll be a treat for PE customers!

Nooooooo.....

I've got SkyCouch and Business Class seats booked on that route over July.

Buenos Aires has seen the aircraft switched to a 777-200 until 26 October and it checks out as soonish the HNL route was due to be switched from a 787 to a 777-2 anyway (before the Trent issues occurred)

Ditto! pray that this doesn't happen as don't really want to loose the sky couch option with the kids!

You'll be fine for now.

Air NZ have said they can't get the Hi Fly A340 until mid may so expect a 777-200 or 300 on HNL flights for now.

And it is not going to fully sorted until 2022.

All the affected engines won’t be completely made over until 2022, but the interim actions, such as the surgical strikes and software proposal, are geared toward restoring the fleet to unrestricted service.
Suspect airlines who have ordered but don't have a fleet yet will be trying hard to switch to GE. Or are all the new RRs going to be TENs so hoping they have sorted everything on the RR side?

The TENs aren't a solution to everything - they still have their own unique issues which are different to those with the Package C engines.

I'm angling for Perth to keep the 789 (although it's been cancelled on a number of other dates!) But I probably shouldn't speak too soon.

I've been noticing that the usual "your flight is delayed" TXT"s for my domestic flights haven't been turning up from 4074. Even had some arrive five hours after the flight finally took off. Think it started around 10th April. Maybe Air NZ's systems are swamped or having some technical issue at the same time. Up until now I would say their TXT alerts have been superb, now I keep checking my flights during the day to make sure they are on time.

It might have something to do with the 9000+ people who've had flight changes, cancelations etc over the last few days (which isn't that bad when they carry an average of 43700 passengers per day)
