From NZ Website:
Membership is available for online purchase only and during the offer period. You can only purchase this membership through the link you received in your exclusive Air New Zealand email invite within the offer period.
I haven't received the email.

My wife (also Elite) has, I haven't.
I can't imagine they will continue it beyond a trial. They will have too many booking the cheapest late flights and changing them on the day. Also difficult in that you are only allowed one passenger on the booking, so (as I read the T's and C's) if two of you were booked you wouldn't be able to change, even if both of you had signed up for it.

Lots of people are exploiting Flexitime now to save money on fares. This is only going to make it harder to do that.

It's a product I know a couple of people who would be signing up immediately, but I fail to see the reasons Air NZ would want to offer this. They're getting $199 up front from passengers who might easily spend hundreds more per year buying Flexi tickets so it's really just a loss of revenue for them.

I book Flexiplus with a view to cancel (rarely) and in a way end up subsidising the Flexitime tickets

The reason I'll sign up is because I had to move to AKL (+1 chose North Shore ) and it's been a friggin' nightmare getting to the airport. I've missed 2 flights this year! I missed one flight and was talking to NZ saying "I'm not going to make it" and the NZ agent said just get there before the flight departs and although you can't get on it you'll only have to pay $100 to change to the later flight instead of buying a new ticket which was a better outcome than expected. A new ticket on the day for ZQN was running around $300 mark. I've changed a few flight times domestically. Given the crappy traffic up here, I'm all in. Anyway, flexitime will take out some of the stress of missing flights, especially with half hourly frequency during peak periods on main trunks.

Was booking flexi flights because I don't trust the traffic in Auckland - and this is in central let alone north shore

I didn't get the email and searched through the above link to find the sign up but couldn't so called up and was told because it's only a trial there's only 1500 people that were offered this. Wonder if I've got an 'X' next to my name for having gamed the system previously! Oh well, one silver lining is getting the additional APD and SP from the higher flexi fares vs paying $200 but only getting the 'seat only' earnings?? Or have I interpreted that incorrectly.

I'd so love to have a behind the scenes session with NZ.

Guess I'll have to entertain plan B, staying out by the airport to catch some flights on time.

It appears to be open to anybody. You just need to go to the signup page (5 seconds on Google and you'll find it) and sign up.
