Has anybody heard a definite number of seats for the new low density config? All Air NZ have said so far is 27 BP and 33 PE.

With the QF launch today of 236 pax it's makes NZ's current 302 look terrible, and doing the math I'd still expect the new NZ low density config to be somewhere around 260-270

Just curious, does anyone know when NZ's next board meeting is due ? I wondered whether there might be some update on additional 787 orders after the next meeting as all seems to have gone a bit quiet on this subject

Which are the best seats in Economy on the 787-9? I assume row 50, front of section, & exit row. Cost $95 seat select.

NOTE: I bumped this thread from 2016 as it was the only one I found that was generic re NZ's 787s

Mods - feel free to move/merge if there is a better location for this post

P.S. I think questions about seats etc should be in separate threads - many of which already exist.

I see they have Dreamed up a solution to the RR Trent problems by not installing any at all:eek:;):p

That would be the Dreamglider. Tow it behind a DC3 :-)

Here, some perspective.....

In terms of the wide body fleet only:

AC started receiving its 8 - 788s back in in May 2014. No wifi
AC received its 27 - 789s between July 2015 - May 2018. No wifi.
Only some of the 25 existing 777 fleet (3 variants) have wifi
AC is putting wifi in the 8 A330s. Eventually.

AC FT has at least one entire thread dedicated to onboard wifi.
I can tell you, it is plenty frustrating or just plain weird, that here were are in September 2018, still waiting to have wifi on the pretty birds while crossing the planet.

I know the 2Ku wifi that they are installing is different than what some other airlines are using, but I had wifi on TPAC on BR in 2015, I had wifi on LH in 2015......
I'm not sure how airlines define "progress" in these matters. :D

STILL, look at your pretty new NZ bird. She's gorgeous.

Air NZ's WiFi deployment has essentially been impacted by the 789 issues. They haven't been able to send the 777's to Singapore for the installs, and obviously can't take the 789's out of service either.

In regard to these two new 789's my understanding was that both were getting WiFi factory fitted and arriving with it. GX wasn't a factory fit at Charlotte when they received the earlier code2 aircraft last year, but it is now at Everett.

To see photos showing no antenna a week before the first aircraft is due would tend to indicate a last minute rush to fit it, or that it's not coming fitted.

May be with the Trent issues AirNZ don't want anything that could delay the delivery? Have a bit of time before Chicago flights so need them to cover some 777 time in the shop? There is also the chance it is half installed, e.g. the wiring loom in place and seeing dish not there got a flat panel on the roof opposed to the dome?

With the 777 having high utilisation when are we going to see the 777 pilots timing out? Did see an ad a while back looking for 777 secondments for 787 cabin crew .

.

Seems like NZ has backed there ANZES in an corner in AKL, which doesn’t have the personal to carry out this work with all the down sizing the last couple of years.

Surely it would of make sense do them, while some of them were parked at AKL for 3-6months.

I notice this aircraft has already been operating services this week — anyone know if anything is different on board with seating?

ace86 Oct 31, 19 1:51 am

Hi samjnz Nothing is different onboard, I flew back on it from Tahiti. It’s 27/33/215 seating. No Wifi
