April is meant to be the opening Month

Isn't it always like that in the afternoon? As we noted in our review (http://www.milesdownunder.com/2015/0...rnational-syd/), it could easily take the title as the most crowded airline lounge in the world.

Is it possible to use Virgin Lounge for tans-tasman instead of the Temporary ones? Virgin is not explicit on that. Reading on their website it is implying domestic only. Air NZ is not much help either

http://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en...#lounge-access

Air NZ:
Virgin Australia trans-Tasman alliance
- Airpoints Elite, Gold and Koru members may bring one eligible guest with them to Virgin Australia lounges in Australia.
- Airpoints Elite, Gold and Koru members do not have access to lounges when travelling on Virgin Australia flights to and from the Pacific Islands, Denpasar Bali, Port Moresby or Phuket.
- Airpoints Elite, Gold and Koru members do not have access to lounges in conjunction with long haul Virgin Australia flights.

They also say the following on the same page:

Airpoints™ Elite, Gold and Koru members are also now able to use Virgin Australia lounges when connecting from an Air New Zealand trans-Tasman flight and flying domestically in Australia with Virgin Australia. These lounges are located in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Gold Coast, Mackay and Perth.
So I think you'd have a hard time trying to gain entry when connecting to an Air New Zealand trans-Tasman flight.

Given that the Virgin lounges are all located in domestic terminals, this isn't likely to come up very often.

Official open date for renovated SYD lounge: 23rd May (Saturday)

So this was just reported over at Australian Business Traveller site:
Air New Zealand's new business class lounge at Sydney Airport will open to passengers on May 23, delivering a premium pre-flight experience before travellers cross the pond.

NZ Herald article has the photo of the food theatre.
Chef cooking in the area but next to the normal hot food buffet pots, there appears to be plated meals in front of him. The cold food buffet island is offset like normal.
