Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read it as Q300 has a 47% lower CASK than B1900. Subtle yet important difference - if my interpretation is correct then it means a seat on a B1900 costs 89% more than a Q300 seat.

Close enough to double.

Very interesting - thanks for posting Blackcloud.

So if we assume for a moment that a B1900D CASK is $1.00 then the total per kilometer cost of the plane is $1 x 19 seats = $19/km. By comparison a DH3 would be $0.53, or for the entire plane $0.53 x 50 seats = $26.50.

So a DH3 with only 27 seats filled (a mere 54% load factor) is already more profitable than an entirely full B1900D...

I was surprised to only see an 11% per ASK fuel improvement between a 744 and the 77W

NZ's 77W do have a very low seat count, which wouldn't help with ASK. When look at say EK some of there 77W have 450 passengers!

I haven't seen that many from EK, but there is an AC config with 450+ passengers.

NZ 77W 3 class 332 total, 88 ahead of the overwing exits and 244 behind

AC 77W 3 class high density 458 total, 180 ahead and 278 behind

AF 77W 3 class high density 468 total, 212 ahead and 256 behind
AF 77W 4 class 303 total, 75 ahead (first & business) and 228 behind (premium economy & economy)
AI 77W 3 class 342 total, 123 ahead and 219 behind
AA 77W 3 class 310 total, 60 ahead and 250 behind

CX 77W 3 class 340 total, 102 ahead and 238 behind
CX 77W 4 class 275 total, 59 ahead and 216 behind
EK 77W 3 class 354-360 total, 100 ahead and 254-260 behind
EK 77W 2 class 427 total, 172 ahead and 255 behind
EY 77W 3 class 330 total, 74 ahead and 256 behind
EY 77W 2 class 412 total, 152 ahead and 260 behind
BR 77W 3 class 313-319 total, 102-108 ahead and 211 behind
JL 77W 4 class 256 total, 71 ahead and 185 behind
JL 77W 4 class 232 total, 57 ahead and 175 behind
JL 77W 4 class 272 total, 72 ahead and 200 behind
KL 77W 3 class 425 total, 165 ahead and 260 behind
KE 77W 3 class 291 total, 64 ahead and 227 behind
PR 77W 2 class 370 total, 126 ahead and 244 behind
QR 77W 2 class 335 total, 103 ahead and 232 behind
QR 77W 2 class high density 380 total, 148 ahead and 232 behind
SQ 77W 3 class 278 total, 50 ahead and 228 behind
TG 77W 2 class 348 total, 109 ahead and 239 behind
TK 77W 3 class 337 total, 91 ahead and 246 behind
VA 77W 3 class 361 total, 125 ahead and 236 behind

Appears the main difference is the NZ business and premium economy seats take up more space (as a proportion of the cabin floor area) than the equivalent seats on other airlines.

Out of curiosity who on that list other than SQ has business in a 1-2-1 layout?

Having read trip report on the the new AC 77W layout it sounds absolutely horrible. Even business class pax are complaining.

I meant other than NZ and SQ..

I know it was quite common, but many incl AC have abandoned it simply to cram more seats in.

Only on the ex-9W aircraft, the actual TK aircraft are 2-3-2.
