Call from Koru Club premature
I was flying AKL to NAN recently and waiting in the comfort of the Koru lounge. The call came to board now so away we went only to be greeted with a full lounge and nothing doing in respect of boarding. So we stood and waited and waited and waited. I love the way the staff studiously avoid eye contact in situations like this.
Why on earth do they convey the all clear signal to the Koru Lounge so prematurely? Surely they could wait until they were open and ready to board? |
priority boarding?

Its become common at AKL Intentional, ive found that you don't need to leave the lounge until the second call (Unless your on an A320 with a carryon).

Just pretend AKL is a world class airport and doesn't make irritating boarding announcements for every single flight. Set your own schedule.
|
And NEVER believe the monitors. They are generally 30 minutes advanced.

maybe there was a delay that came after the phone call was made. From the lounge to even the closest gate is not a 2 minute walk plus there is the duty free stands to avoid! Airports, airlines and air travel in general is fraught with inconsistency, inconvenience and a lot of factors beyond their control. I'm sure they weren't intentionally trying to aggravate their lounge entitled pax!

At AKL Domestic, the Koru Club call for boarding to places like NPL often comes late. By the time I have walked to the far end of the terminal (where the regional flights depart from) they are usually calling me by name, as if I am a missing passenger.
You can't win them all! |
