Status Points on NZ Domestic
Hi
Sorry if this has been asked before - I am looking at Flying Auckland to Invercargill via Christchurch as 1 booking.
The price is cheaper if I book at as 1 flight but my question is will I get the status points as two flights (Akl - Chc and Chc - Inv) 24 points or does Air NZ only treat it as 1 flight so only 12 points ?
Thanks

As long as they are on separate PNR's they credit separately. Keep in mind that if you book Flexi Tickets you actually get 16 SP on flights over 300KM's and 11 on flights under 300KM's

So if I was to book, say a TRG-HKK via CHC I would only get 12 SPs. But if I spent an extra $25 and booked the TRG-CHC and CHC-HKK separately using the multistop tool, I would recieve 20 SPs? Is that correct. Another question, do bags get transferred automatically on a multistop booking?

If you book separately you get points for both flights. Have done this a few times to get from Wellington to New Plymouth via Auckland.
Not sure about using multi-stop,though.

The Airpoints T&C's define the journey concept even over separate tickets.
So chc-wlg and wlg-akl on separate tickets should only post as chc-akl - and frequently this is what happens.
However, often enough, such travel slips through the cracks of whatever verification/audit process they use and will post as two journeys.
I have had both occur.
If such travel does post as two segments, count you blessings and keep mum.
Not true. Single trips are single trips. The SP's even credit before you land (Usually), I have flown many a trip booked as singles and got credited for the lot.

It is the most accurate post here on the topic.

I agree. For work flights (booked via a travel agent), sometimes I specify the flights I want booked, especially if I want a little bit of extra time in the Lounge to do work: eg. WLG-AKL, AKL-TRG and have been credited as two separate flights (eg. 16+11 SP's) but still on the same ticket - If I specify I want a flight WLG-TRG without any specific flights I find that I get a "WLG-TRG" ticket, at 16 SP's in total.
