NZ99 Fleet deployment?

Can anyone chime in to the logical of aircraft deployment on NZ99 (AKL-NRT)?

I know the 767's do not have a real J; looking at days of the week it seems to be a mess of 767 / 777 / 747 depending on the day and week...

Both 744's just do AKL<->SFO now with the odd trip across the Tasman. My understanding is the odd trip to Japan occurs because of fright loadings.

Too bad; award space out of SFO is impossible.

I am looking for the real J experience and thus want to avoid the 767's and at least grab the 777. Any way of following how they deploy?

Seems like the NRT flights are the easier ones to grab award space on.

Weird, the 744 is not scheduled on NRT for 10/31.

So If a 777 is scheduled; and is downgraded to a 767; how does NZ deal with this? Would pax not be pissed if they booked a pod and ended up in a recliner?

NZ's response to me (for one of my staff) was "You booked J, you got J", protests about the difference between Business Premier and 763 J fell on deaf ears. No compensation. The solution: never fly NZ J on routes where there is flexibility between 77E/763. Until the 789s come in, I will never fly AKL-NRT again on NZ, who have missed out on some significant money from me that has gone to other carriers.

PVG flights are easiest of all to get award space on, I find, and have the 772 a reasonable amount of the time (though, as with NRT, vulnerable to aircraft switches to the dreaded 763).

The funny thing is whenever this happens to a premium economy fare you will most certainly be bumped to Business.

So how would they handle a last minute equipment change from 763 to 772?

Or does it never happen?
