Concierge Introduction Phone call/e-mail

Hi All

I haven't flown long haul since November but I'm off to SFO tomorrow (incidentally the tin changed last night to 772 which might upset a few upgrade requests for pax). I usually receive a phone call/e-mail from the conciere 2-3 days prior to departing NZ. I haven't received one. Is this the norm these days? cheers

Just returned from SFO (on 747) and there was no Concierge on board either to or from SFO. I assumed this was why I also did not receive a call.

They've canned the concierges.

No great loss in my opinion.

I'll miss them. They've always been fantastic when I've been on board, and on one flight that I flew when I got taken ill shortly before the flight (not so bad that I couldn't fly though - I did get assessed), they were very kind and made sure I got looked after very well.

For me, they were a big plus. I'm more likely to look elsewhere for value now they are gone.

There were concierges on NZ1 (LAX-AKL) and NZ5 on 14FEB. Don't recall seeing them on NZ5 or NZ8 in January, though.
