OneUp Results Summary

Hello everyone,

Guess I had some free time over the holidays, so I compiled the results people have posted on the "successful/unsuccessful oneup" thread into the table below. It shows min/max/avg bid amounts for each airport pair, original booking class, and separated by bids that cleared and those that were declined.

All bid amounts were converted to APD/NZD (although at current forex rates, so that may skew some past results).

Happy New Year 2014!

Note: As of the June 6th update, both the purchased ("Fare") and upgrade cabin type ("Upg") are shown. This is to help distinguish results on routes where both 2-cabin (767) and 3-cabin (747, 77R, 77W) planes are used, such as AKL-HNL, etc.

Updated January 6th, 2014

Cabin classes:
Y - Economy
PE - Premium Economy
B - Business (767)
BP - Business Premier (747, 777)

Thanks, this is really useful. Have the status-based uplifts been incorporated into the numbers?

Thanks!

Yes, it's the "grossed-up" amount, insofar as status level or uplift was specified by the original poster.

Nothing for AKL-HKG in that list, but I know there are bids listed for it (I had one in there).

However, well done, it is an excellent list. Obviously those with multiple bids are very helpful.

Yeah somehow the top few rows got lopped off when I pasted it in. I wish HTML editing was enabled for the forum...

Anyway I added them back so you should see HKG, HNL and a few other destinations at the top of the list now.

Chart updated today. Self-bumping since editing doesn't do it automatically.

So (just for a laugh) can the count/route segment and the average revenue/cleared upgrade be totalised just to get an idea how much more revenue NZ squeezed out of the market smple?

And then compared to how much has been lost from people upset at the change moving to using other airlines?

Ask and ye...

Below are all the cleared upgrades with the average winning bid compared to the old standby amount.

With a few exceptions, many of the results where the OneUp is more than the old amount are on the "premium" long-haul international sectors.

I had to laugh while doing this, not only do we have a rather small data set, it still doesn't really help anyone get an upgrade. Why does it have to be so opaque? Couldn't they just reverse auction the upgrades at T-48? I would MUCH prefer that to guessing in the dark.

Almost certainly because the bean counters have deemed the way it is being done currently is more likely to increase revenue than other methods they would have considered.

Removing this post to avoid confusion. The most updated results will always be in the first post in the thread.
