Status Points LHR-HKG-AKL

Hey There,

I am just trying to figure out the status points for my flight. I normally travel LHR to AKL direct without stopping over, however this time I am stopping over in HKG for 2 nights. I presume I earn status points based on taking two flights rather than on a single sector like a normally do. Interesting how they reward you with more points for breaking up the journey, as I don't think it actually costs more in terms of fare.

I also do not understand how NZ to Asia earns more points than Asia to Europe considering Asia to Europe is a longer flight and longer distance.

Cheers

Nope, it's according to the journey, not sectors.

Just to be clear you will get LHR-AKL status points regardless of how you split the journey. You can only get the LHR-HKG and HKG-AKL status point levels if you buy two separate tickets for each sector, which of course will cost more, especially in C class.
