Not ticketed on NZ stock - reward ticket from another partner program.
How did you lodge the one up? Did you get the NZ PNR to find your booking and it gave you the one up option?

We receive all partner airline booking PNRs on reward travel when the itinerary is sent so we can select seats on each airlines website or app. But I received an email from NZ saying I could bid on one up so I followed the link. And then I received the email and new ticket with my confirmation of successful bid.

Interesting. Pretty sure Air NZs own website says other airline tickets aren't eligible for one ups. Anyway well done! Especially that route.

From the NZ website:

OneUp makes it easy to request a cabin class upgrade when you're booked on an Air New Zealand ticketed and operated international flight.
Maybe NZ is getting desperate.....?

Not sure I'd call it desperation, it's just the difference between policy and implementation. Similar to being able to OneUp GAS fares.

I'm sure NZ is happy to take the ancillary revenue though,

Well reducing outstanding liabilities. I'm assuming the min cost of a One Up is greater than the marginal cost of varaible costs involved in a cabin upgrade. a profitable way to write APDs of the balance sheet.

I'm going to take a guess and say that most folks are using cash rather than APD for OneUp's.

According to the seat map, there are still approximately 6 seats available.
On the departing flight there weren't any available seats in PE. Great service and comfort, thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. In my opinion, it was worth the $.

Unfortunate... FWIW domestic flight refunds into my CCrd consistently happen within 1-2 days.

Well I guess that provides all the proof you need when people claim oneups get priority over RUs. 😀
