NZ02 Auckland airport earliest check-in and bag drop

Can anyone advise me how early one can check-in for NZ02 from Auckland to Los Angeles?

Will I be able to access the Business Class lounge anytime after checking in? It may be 6 to 8 hours before the 22:30 departure time.

Thank you for your help.

The premium check in area is open for check in all day long and I have had no problem being early for a flight.

Where are you coming from?
IMO 6-8 hours in the Koru Lounge at AKL is ridiculously long. I reccommend that you either delay your arrival or go somewhere out of the airport eg. Villa Maria Winery.

You could be 'super naughty' and spend a few hours over in koru domestic..! :o

Premium check in is open from around 4.30am, earlyer some days if.

Go for a walk to the Domestic Terminal and hang out in the Koru Lounge

The US-bound flights open for check in only 4 hours before depature.

Is there something better or "naughty" about the domestic lounge? I would think that if you were going to hang around the airport, you'd rather be in the international lounge. Also, isn't the domestic lounge past security? How would the OP get in with an international boarding pass?

If you where going to hang around at the airport, the Domestic Lounge has a much better view.

No boarding pass is required to get airside at Domestic.

My understanding, is that the self scan in at the AKL Dom/International feeds from the same database. Therefore its goes green at both of the lounges.

It certainly did for me earlier this month. Went green after arriving from WLG and I dropped in before heading over to International. (Ran into Thai-Kiwi who was heading home.)

Interestingly it did not do so when I tried this over a year ago.

I'm pretty sure the AKL self-scan thing has been there only since around November. I'm guessing when they added one at AKL International, they just programed it the same as domestic allowed International bps on that setting

Great, thanks so much for the quick answers!

Have never had a problem checking in early morning (9am) for US flights.

Even if they could not check you in until 4 hours (i have never tried so cannot comment), I would imagine that as a BP international passenger the domestic koru lounge would let you in by showing your ticket at the desk until the checkin opens?
