Quite right, my apologies for not reading the thread properly before posting.

Interesting!

I wonder if they're constraining PE sales on these sectors to 36 or 39 seats, otherwise an equipment substitution could be tricky.

It's changed to a 744.

What is the legroom like in the ne3w Premium Economy seats? I can't seem to find any mention of it anywhere.

Just curious, as I'm booked on NZ1 in early April, is the third 773 going to be delivered and ready in time to turn over the AKL-LAX-LHR route to all-773 opertion on 1 April, as advertised ?

They're advertising April 1st extensively for the 773 service to LHR at the moment, so I assume they're confident about airframe availability.

However... I've heard that they don't want to start LHR until the service bugs are ironed out.

Someone told me that it was out on the flight line at Paine preparing for its first pre-delivery flight checks. If all goes well and clears the acceptance and certification checks in AKL then first of April looks right.
I am surprised that the service issues have yet to be sorted, are there still the old set of ovens installed in both aircraft?
Or is NZ worried about the feedback regarding the hardproduct on their premier sector LAX-LHR?

Service flow is still taking too long (still 2-3 hours to feed Y) and feedback on that has been consistently bad. From what I understand they're still having trouble with the ovens and they're operating with a mix of ovens in the aircraft and may revert back to the old ones.

While I hope they're worried about Premium Economy, I don't think that this is the hold back for now. Remember that LHR are crewed from London and they may not want to subject fresh crew to ongoing service bugs that they are not experienced with.

On a related subject, it looks like the 744s that are being replaced on the AKL-LAX-LHR route are being shifted to AKL-SFO starting in April. Is this a temporary change or is this semi-permanent until the next batch of 773s is ready? (and when is that?)

I'd personally rather fly the 744 as long as it's an option.

Well NZ originally planned to move two 747 to the NZ-JPN route however due to the earthquakes it looks as if they will now go to SFO to make it daily or soon to be as more 777-300ER are delivered.

AKL-SFO-AKL daily by a 744 has been in the works from about 6months ago now.
