Peggy, try on other sites. Try the AF site, the KL site and set it to different countries if that doesn't work.

Booking problems.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try on Air France as well as KLM and tried both Singapore and France's sites...so far no luck, but I'll see if I can find some site that works!

Try the AF USA site. That usually works well for me.

Also, just in case, try clearing out your cookies or try another browser. It might be a cookie problem.

Flying Blue Award booking errors

Thanks for the suggestions, Stimpy.
I just tried clearing the cache/cookies for both Firefox and Safari and tried the AF USA site on both...no success on either! This gets SO frustrating!! I have spent hours trying to book this ticket and just when it looks like the thing is going through I get that error message!!!

Im trying to book a flight too... I get the error message:

The system is unable to respond.
Please try again later.

Kind of annoying to say the least... I have had this message for a few days and I have cleared my cache etc.. fkd.

Any luck with this? I've been noticing the same error ("System is unable to respond") while trying to book award travel. Its been about 7 days and i've been getting the same error. I've tried from multiple computers so I don't think its a cookies/cache issue.

I'm a US flying blue member.

is anyone else having problems with the miles burner/miles earner tool? Just trying to find out how many miles is needed for a NRT - PVG return flight.......but keep getting redirected to the Flying Blue Partners page. Might be a remporary problem but I`m impatient

ok, another problem with the KLM website at the moment. I`ve been trying to book some tickets but when selecting my dates,I can`t scroll completely to the bottom of the page to select my times and `confirm` the times. So I can`t confirm my bookings.

Is it an issue with my browser or something? I`ve tried using both Safari and Firefox (as I use a mac) or is it a problem with their website?

EDIT: Seems to be fixed now

Unhappy AMS -AUH return

After a lot of trouble booking via de KL website, I just called dutch FB centre and booked it via them. Still waiting for the eticket, but flight is confirmed and I can see it in my FB site. This went a lot quicker than via the website.
KL confirms the have problems with the site, but don't seem to be able to fix it.......

As posted in another thread, there is a new award booking engine.

However, could someone explain the following issue I face when I try to book a one way AF award CDG-JNB. Taxes & surcharges are :
- for classic miles Tempo (35,000) : 163 EUR
- for open miles Affaires (110,000) : 199 EUR
- for classic miles Premiere (70,000) : 163 EUR

Why are taxes & surcharges higher when choosing open miles?

It's business class, no? Business class has higher tax.

Sure, I think about about the Chirac tax.

But why is business higher than first then?

Two possible reasons. As I recall, the Chirac tax is higher for biz, and even higher for first. 2nd reason is that the taxable value of the award is higher.

IIRC, Chirac tax is 40 EUR for Biz or First.

So apart from a(nother) mistake in the new booking engine, my point is : what game AF is trying to play by putting higher taxes on open miles than on standard miles award tickets?
