Delta marketed, WestJet operated flights

Hey,

anybody has experience with a booking with Delta that is Westjet operated? Do you get miles / XPs on those flights? Technically I believe WestJet isn't a Skyteam member but at the same time it's FB partner airline so I'm a bit confused whether those flights are eligible for earnings. If they earn XPs, does DL marketed Z fare that's WestJet operated count as premium economy or business?

Pretty much this is the only way to book our itenerary, so curious if I get something out of it
Thanks

I would tend to say it won't work as it's not a case described on FB site (for Westjet or DL flights). But I am not 100% sure.

According to the partner pages for DL and WS, you won't earn any miles or XP on a DL-coded, WS-operated flight

WS is a Flying Blue partner, but it is not a Skyteam Partner, nor is it one of the recognised "Delta Connection" partners, so there is no chance that a DL-coded, WS-operated flight will earn anything in Flying Blue.

The only Westjet flights that will earn miles and XP are those coded WS (or AF or KL, if such codeshare flights exist) and operated by WS.

The wording on both pages would suggest so, however go and open Virgin Atlantic, where it says DL marketing flights are also eligible to earn XP / miles, conflicting with what's written on DL page. And then there's this post saying they did credit after calling: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/32014854-post7.html Well, guess I'll report after taking the flights.

I wouldn't say it's a conflict; more that in the DL/VS case, you have to consult both partner pages to determine what happens in that case. (Once VS officially joins Skyteam, that case is covered by what's written on the DL page, so you don't additionally need to go to the VS page to see if there's any additional info regarding DL that wasn't on the DL page).

Whereas in the DL/VS case you find good news on the VS partner page, you find no similar good news on the WS partner page when investigating the DL/WS case.

Despite that report of receiving miles for a DL-coded, WS-operated flight, the fact that miles were manually credited at least leaves open the possibility that a human overrode the "normal" scheme, and incorrectly awarded miles. Or perhaps the rules regarding earning on WS were updated since January 2020. Either way, I'd be very interested to hear what happens if you book this ticket, so please do let us know if you book such a flight, and whether it posts automatically and/or whether you chased it up after the fact and whether miles/XPs were later awarded manually.

Enjoy the trip!

Hey there, re-upping this topic as I am considering booking a ticket in this situation: DL-marketed, WS-operated on *one* of the two legs. The other leg would be DL-operated.

Did you end up booking this ticket, OP?

I have the following booked:
CDG-AMS-SEA-YYC in X Cabin
YYC-PDX-AMS-CDG in X,G,G Cabin

According to AF app, I will earn 11444 miles and 55XP. This itin should have 5+12+5 for the outbound and 5+24+5 for the inbound, or 56XP. Not sure why this is the case but will report on June 7th what the final results are. It is worth noting that the YYC-PDX is not showing on the AF app.

The FB website reports both AMS-SEA and PDX-AMS as being Long 2, meaning 10XP in Economy.

I don't see where you're getting 12XP (Long 3 Economy) or 24 XP (Long 3 Premium Economy) from...

Update: I did not get credit for the WS flight; However I did get 10 XP for CDG to AMS in G glass (Premium Eco on Delta).

That's interesting. Premium Economy is not offered on this route. However you still got credited for a PE fare..

Anybody in the know, would this work on AF/KL coded flights too - or likely be a result of this being DL-coded?

Flying this Friday actually so will forums. I had no good alternative for the flight to "shake off" DL-coded, WS-operated filght.

Did you inquire to customer service? I imagine it won't post automatically but they might credit it.

Why would they? It's not an eligible flight for mileage or XP earn.
