Mileage run from Budapest (BUD)

Hi all,

I'm 60XP short of my next level so considering some runs. For SkyTeam we basically have 2 flights going out BUD-CDG and BUD-FCO but interested if you have experience with some relatively cheap ways to do an XP run doing a transfer.

Many thanks

Also you have KLM and Aeroflot and Czech airlines in budapest (as far as i remember) , and soon Korean Air (from may 2020)

few advices for you

- avoid czech airlines
- play with google flights and ITA matrix
- be flexible
- read carefully the charts/rules of flying blue related to XP for other skyteam airlines and skyteam partners

I forgot why OK should be avoided.

The OP wants to earn XPs for as little as possible.

Most cheap OK tickets earn no miles and XPs - https://www.flyingblue.nl/en/partner...s/presentation

Hence, you must avoid OK.

simple answer = a lot of czech airlines booking classes are excluded by flying blue

Reason = this is probably due to czech airlines not wanting to pay

Mostly in economy but business also is impacted

when you purchase through OK website you have no way to know your booking code/class until you click "purchase" .

That is the reason why you should either avoid czech airlines or use some tricks to check the booking class before purchase (if xp and miles matter for you of course)

Have you forgotten about KLM's 3 times daily service?

you should look out for a cheap O-class fare (business class) of AF for 312 EUR + tax roundtrip should give you 60 XP. Routes like BUD-CDG-CPH or even BUD-CDG-OTP (if you enjoy longer routes) should work. You can minimize your cost by looking at airports with the lowest tax.

As far as I remember all OK Business Class fares are earning, which could make BUD-PRG-xxx a reasonable choice for the right price. They have decent service in C, and some flights are operated by A319 (as opposed to the ATRs).

The non-earning booking fares are V, N, S, W, O, R (+E & Z for redemption flights).

As far as I can tell, all business class tickets book in I class at least.

If you have a doubt, just try to generate the same flight on Expedia, they will give you the booking class (usually a mix of D & I fares)

Some destinations are operated by QS 737s or by a mix of QS and OK planes, but Budapest is all OK, mix of ATRs and A319
