KL SLC-AMS upgrades to J
 
Interested in the SLC-AMS redeye flight on KLM. Do they offer mileage award or DoD paid upgrades out of SLC (DL-ticketed)? I know that DoD upgrades are available ex-AMS on flights that are on KL metal. Flight is about 3 weeks from departure and there are 6 open seats in J on a 789.

I do have access to FB miles since I have a Chase card.

Well it depends of course if there are seats available.
In many cases, an upgrade will be offered at OLCI both an cash and miles option.
You can ask the agent in SLC as well for an upgrade. Don’t expect it to be cheaper. Last option is to ask the purser upon departure. Again, don’t expect it to be cheaper.
Do you have a FB account and are a FB FF? If not then there are many examples where FB blocks the accounts when it’s only used to transfer CC miles to FB.

With departure in 3 weeks and only six open seats, I wouldn't count on a worthwile offer - but do ask.

I was on this flight a few days ago to slc in business class and there were a few empty BC seats.
