Flying AF Metal on a Delta flight number: Are miles rev based, or mileage based?

Hi folks,

when flying delta metal, AF calculates the number of award miles as a multiplier (based on fare class) on the actual mileage flown. Like in the good old days.
But does anybody knows what happens if you purchased and fly a DL flight number that's actually Air France metal, and accrue on Flying Blue?
Does AF recognize its own metal and calculates award miles based on revenue, even though you have a DL flight number? Or does AF treat this AF metal flight like it were a 'real' DL flight, with award miles calculated based on your fare class and actual mileage flown?

Thank you for your feedback!

Fare class and distance flown if you are DL-coded.

You should look at the flight number. For example:

Delta operated with KL flight number = fare price based
KLM operated with DL flight number = distance based

This. Even if it is an AF metal flight if the ticket is purchased under a DL flight number the award miles will be calculated based on your fare class (like in the good old days! )

Expanding on this, I just booked a mixed itinerary with flights operated by Delta, Air France and KLS. Purchased and ticketed on Delta, with DL flight numbers, but the AF leg (CDG-SFO) books into F, which corresponds to domestic first class on Delta. If crediting to Flying Blue, would I end up earning miles on the most expensive leg of my trip as if it was domestic first?

F is no longer domestic first class. Delta now only uses F for "true first class product" i.e. La Premiere for CDG-SFO leg on AF. You might run into issues with that actually, since as DL has no F product, AF might by default not credit XP / miles without opening a case.
