Odd FB status discrepancy between Air France and Delta
 

I tried to search the forum for a similar topic, but didn't find anything - my apologies if I didn't search well.

I'm flying Delta this afternoon from NYC to SFO, and put my Flying Blue number at booking. I'm currently AF Ivory, but weirdly enough, my Delta boarding pass shows "AF Silver". It's even more strange because this flight will not even bring me to Silver (although I'll be like 1000 miles short of it). Did that happen to anyone else? Granted most people here have probably been Gold or Platinum long enough that they might not remember hah :D .
It will be interesting to see if I'm going to earn miles as Ivory or Silver.

It's not that uncommon that you see your level wrong when flying with partner airlines, given that the bonus is given by FB, and they know your correct level, I suspect you won't get any bonus miles but please report back :D

Hah yea that is my opinion too, I have very little hope to get the Silver bonus :D . But I have been pleasantly surprised by airlines errors lately (like when I managed to double dip with FB and Alaska on an Air France flight a few months ago), so we shall see ;) .

When I dropped from Silver to Ivory a few years back it seemed like Delta never got the memo - were you Silver at some point in the past?

I never got any enhanced miles earning, but I did get a completely unwarranted upgrade on a 757 DTW-PHX, which was a nice little bonus.

I was Plat for several years then slid downhill to ivory some years ago, every time I use my FB number on Delta, last time was last week, it shows up as silver.
It gets you a free bag and priority check in and boarding so not to be sneezed at.

I was gold in 2013 (I think)... so downgraded to Silver in 2014 and have been Ivory since after I switched loyalty from Delta to other airlines. I did have Delta flights in the meantime though, and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed had it said Silver on the boarding pass.
Oh well! Definitely looks like I'm not the only one, and indeed, I'm totally fine getting perks I'm not entitled to get :) .

it's very weird with delta - I once had a booking on delta. when I bought the ticket I entered my FB account number (at that time silver). meanwhile I upgraded to FB platinum, but upon checkin the DL boarding cards only showed silver. nobody was able to change that for the entire itinerary :(

That's not weird because that is probably the best-known bug in FB history. The status at the time the FFP number was first entered in the booking is the one that is remembered.

The solution? Remove the FFP number, and add it again....though it seems that doesn't always work...and now seems to be almost alliance-wide :D :D :D

according to all the DL staff I was in contact with they could not remove and add the number - because there had already been an (automatic) upgrade request on some of the DL segments.

I guess it's not an AFKL booking, or a booking made by a TA using Amadeus, but if it is, or if you have a corresponding AFKL/Amadeus PNR, head over to the KQ website and remove the FB number. Then add it again at the KL/AF website.

So no one will be shocked that indeed, I just got the Ivory rate for the miles that posted in my account. However, they definitely posted in a way I've never seen before with the *** line:

And my boarding pass for the trip back tomorrow also says Silver, so... I guess that wasn't a one time glitch hah! Not complaining at all :D .

I always have some miles posted with *** when flying DL.

You even get it some times on AF/KL flights, though instead of **** it shows up as 'cabin bonus miles' or something along those lines and it includes the surplus over the distance flown.

I have a similar profile. Last summer I was Ivory after 8 years spent as Platinum and then sliding down. Nevertheless, when I traveled on Delta in July I was recognized as Silver, with an extra luggage allowance, bonus miles and even an upgrade on a domestic segment (more details in this thread).

So maybe there is a pattern here.

I'll just add that I've had the exact same thing happen, domestic upgrades included.

Yip, it's the fare class bonus or in other words, the miles earning beyond 100%.
