I just finished the check in for the ATH-CDG-ATH trip I am going to take this Saturday for the purpose of visiting the Air Show. Contrary to what I hoped for I wasn't prompted with any message asking me whether I would like to get an upgrade. Please note I have no status with AF.

Do you consider its worth asking at the sales desk/check in counter at CDG whether a last-minute upgrade in return for cash is possible for my return trip ?

Thank you a lot

The reason is that they probably are sold out at the moments for J seats. But of course it is entirely possible one or more seats will open but because of rebooked customers or other reasons. Plus asking doesn’t hurt, the worst thing you can get is a no, and it might very well be possible to upgrade yourself anyway.

Does not say much. Did you ask for price?

would be interesting to ask the price how they compare to the prices offered on the app and OLCI. For sure they will be different.

Curious if anyone has done J (award fare) -> F (or P if discounted) using miles? Or do I need to use cash? CS told me 6 seats are available ?? I thought there were only 4.

Would waiting until day of departure help with getting a cheaper paid upgrade to F?

The. A380 has 9 P seats. The 777 has 4. I've seen miles, miles+cash and cash offers for J->P.
