What can wedo with 4700 Flying Blue miles?

My parents have 4700 miles each in their Flying Blue account.

Miles expiring March-31-2012. We're based in USA and India.

No intention to earn miles on Flying Blue in the near future.

Welcome suggestions, if we can use the miles for anything at all.

Thanks in advance.

You can donate them to charity (see FB website). While this is not what you might have expected, it is better than just letting them expire.

Unless you are likely to fly a lot in the future with Skyteam the best would be to donate the miles to charity. If Skyteam flights are planned for the future it may be beneficial to make a paid & operated Skyteam flight in a miles earning fare class.

If no, the best option would be the one pointed out by cityflyer369.

Sorry to threadjack but can anyone suggest anything worthwhile to do with 30k. I can see the 'miles savers' but the tax and fees are absolutely crazy. Is there any way to tip miles into a hotel program or can you only go the other way?

No, you can't transfer miles to a hotel program, but you can spend your miles on staying in a hotel, of course.
IMHO, FB offers great flight redemptions from 50k (Europe-North America in Business with promo-awards).

Thanks for the suggestions, I checked on the Flying blue website, that for donating to charity, at-least 10K miles need to be in member's account.

Since my parents have only 4700 miles each, any other ideas?

I've been told that this required is a fault on the website and you can donate whatever amount you want. (in increments of 1000 that is IRRC)
